This weekend I took a stab at Donna Downey's June 2012 Canvas Create on-line workshop to create these poppies using watercolor crayons & pencils, tissue tape, distress stains and Golden absorbent ground. I need to work on my watercolor skills but feel like I learned a lot - these workshops are wonderful!!

My new obsession is painting. I took a Dyan Reaveley workshop and that was it, I got hooked! I've taken a couple of Donna Downey online workshops as well and I'm really enjoying it. I love learning new techniques! As you can see, my bigger paintings are done in my garage - pardon the less than professional setting ;)
Thought I would share a few of my creations so far
Looking forward to breaking out of the mold of the workshops I've taken to create some more "original" work. One thing I can say though is each piece is an individual. I usually do a few at once to practice and try different things and they each end up with their own personality. That's just one of the things I love about it - the other is that it is so freeing and relaxing. I really enjoy it and hope you've enjoyed checking them out.
Can you believe it's 2013? We all made it through the Mayan Armageddon - that was a close one! Now Tim is creating his own end of days in my checkbook with all of the CHA goodness he is putting out - seriously I want, no I NEED, it all! I can only hope it comes out a little at a time or I am doomed :)
Tim started out the New Year right with his new tag too - just love the colors and details he chose. I think my favorite part was the way he stamped the ribbon, I'm going to be using that idea a lot.
Here is Tim's tag, click here for the full tutorial on his blog
And since I loved this tag so much, I'm going to be a copy cat ;)
Here is my take on Tim's tag
