Brushless Watercolor

Challenge 7 for Studio L3 From Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2 page 49
Sponsored by Eclectic Paperie
I threw in a few different watercolor techniques on this one but the one for the challenge is on the swirl accents. I like the way this turned out even though I wasn't crazy about the technique at first.  But once I gave it a chance I like how it gave the swirls an almost batik look.  That's part of what's great about these challenges, it gets you to try new things and find how they can work for you.
Hope you get inspired to create this week!
Enjoy

12 Tags of 2012 - May edition

I thought about tweaking Tim's design but loved all his ideas so much I really didn't change much.  So fun to make!  My favorite part was learning to make the faux porcelain roses.  I am going to be using them more in the very near future!  My mom had some old pattern paper she let me scavenge through, I tried to incorporate some of the printing on that as well as the pattern stamp from Tim's collection.  I was too lazy to sew the measuring tape on the tag but I plan to add some stitches later.  I really dig how the cash key turned out, I'm glad I finally broke down and bought some.
Check out Tim's version here http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2012-may/ and let me know how I did :)

Shattered Stains

Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2, Challenge 5 for Studio L3-   Shattered Stains page 48
Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp, a great place to shop and find inspiration.
I used this fun technique on the wings of my fairy I like how it makes them look all funky and worn.  The fairy girl is from a collage sheet from ART chix Studio, yes, another fun place to shop!  Sometimes I feel like I shop more than create ;)
Try this technique out for yourself and get inky!

Misc. fun in the craft room

While creating for all the challenges I've been entering, I've created a couple on the side that I really like and thought I'd share.

May Flowers

Here is a little tag I did using some Wendy Vecchi stamps and techniques.  Not my normal style, but why not go out on a limb and branch out a little :)  I think it's kind of fun!  I'm entering it in the Inspiration Emporium May challenge - "Bring on the May Flowers".  Check them out!

Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2, Challenge 4

From the Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2 by Tim Holtz, page 43 - Faded Layers.
Here's my entry for the challenge hosted by the lovely Linda Ledbetter at Studio L3.
Visit the site and see all the other talented entries, it's so amazing to see what everyone else is doing!

Happy Birthday to Simon Says Stamp!

Happy 3rd birthday to Simon Says Stamp!  Here is my birthday tag for them :)  One thing I learned - you can run the Tim Holtz metal numbers through an embossing folder...I ran the 3 through the new Metal rivets embossing folder - it's a little lost in all the rusting I did to it but it worked and looked super cool!

Kaleidoscope of Color Challenge

Just a quick post to show the two tags I finished last night.  I was inspired by the Kaleidoscope of Colour challenge on Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog.  This is much more color than I'm used to!  It was fun and I got to use a lot of techniques I've recently learned.  Enjoy and join in the fun if you get a chance!  Check out the sponsor of the challenge too, Simon Says Stamp they are a great place to shop
