Water Color Challenge

Ever since I have gotten Tim's new distress markers I am in LOVE with water color.  I was so excited when I saw a challenge from one of my favorite stores Inspiration Emporium giving me the excuse to create a water color tag!  I used distress ink pads and distress markers using several different techniques and created this tag, enjoy and wish me luck!
Check out all the other entries here - there are a lot of great entries, well worth a peek!

Marbled Stains - Page 46
I had a hard time with this technique and never did get what I considered a "Marble" look but I do like the results.  I made three tags trying to get the technique down and finally just decided to embrace the imperfection :)  I really like the tags even though I don't think I nailed the technique.
Check out the book and try it yourself - it's full of tons of great new techniques and inspiration!
The challenge I entered is hosted by Studio L3 and sponsored by Eclectic Paperie - check em out, both great sites

We got new bikes this week and all my spare time has been out in the beautiful weather breaking them in...BUT I still managed to squeeze in a little Tim time!  Hopefully I can run and get it in just under the wire~time really does fly ;)
Here's  my Faux Patina entry in the Studio L3 Challenge.  Hope you like it!

If you want to know the secret technique you have to buy the book - which really, you should anyway because it's incredible!

Dream Job at Archivers?

Too bad I don't live in MN - I would totally apply for this. But I think my dream job would actually be a buyer and demonstrator where I could design products every once in a while too. What would your dream job be?

12 Tags of 2012 April Tag

I made a few alterations on Tim's tag because I didn't have the die or embossing folder he used - and wouldn't you know it, I'm fresh out of crowns?!  ;)  I like How the changes in the elements changed the course I took with the tag, I think it has a totally different feel but is similar.  I'm enjoying the journey, Tim!
I had fun turning the tag in the embossing folder on it's side to get the sunrise effect.  I made my own crown out of some scrap paper I had that I cut to the shape I wanted.  To make it seem more like an embellishment and less like a piece of scrap, I coated it with glossy accents.  I love my little crown!  I didn't think the green embossing powder stood out enough after I had done it so I added green flocking to the tips of my limbs instead.  Also, I rubbed white paint on my metal accent to make the saying pop out more.  I really like this tag and had fun making it work with what I had.  Can't wait for next month!

Happy Easter!

Lots of Tim techniques here!  I die cut the bunny in brown paper and his bow from music paper.  Then I rubbed him with distress stickles and added a mini pom pom for his tail.  The grass was made from a strip of green paper that I cut repeatedly with my shredding scissors (way to multi task heh?!) The eggs are just eggs I found on the internet and distressed a little with antique linen distress stains and cut out.  The basket was my mom's find at a flea market.  The background was done using one of Tim's embossing folders then spritzing with water and going over with antique linen and victorian velvet distress stains.  I printed the Happy Easter in a funky typewriter font and used the same distress stains on it.  I made the custom ribbon by spritzing water on white seam binding and again using the same distress stains randomly on it.  Hope you enjoyed my tag!  Happy Easter!!
